Apple TV+ lands on Amazon Prime Video in India—big win for streaming fans

Amazon Prime Video has announced that, starting Wednesday, the streaming service will offer Apple TV+ as an add-on subscription in India for ₹99 per month. This means Prime users can now access shows such as Shrinking and Ted Lasso after subscribing to Apple TV+.

“We are thrilled to welcome Apple TV+ and its stellar content to Prime Video’s extensive library in India. We are certain that Prime members in India will enjoy easy access to Apple Originals with a simple add-on subscription, along with all the features of Prime Video, such as convenient and streamlined content discovery, unified watchlists, and centralised billing,” said Gaurav Bhasin, Head of Marketplace (Add-on Subscriptions and Movie Rentals), Prime Video India.

Amazon Prime Video India offers a selection of 25 add-on subscription partners, both international and Indian. Its extensive lineup previously included Lionsgate Play, Discovery+, BBC Player, MGM+, Sony Pictures – Stream, Anime Times, Crunchyroll, Animax+GEM, CN Rewind, FanCode, Channel K, Chaupal, Hoichoi, and Manorama Max, among others.

Apple TV+ is already available on Prime Video as an add-on subscription in the US, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, and several regions in Europe and Latin America. Launched in November 2019, it is the world’s first all-original streaming service, offering dramas, comedies, films, documentaries, and family entertainment. Its content has earned 550 wins and 2,557 award nominations, including the Emmy-winning Ted Lasso and the Oscar Best Picture winner CODA.

“Viewers have been loving the ability to subscribe to Apple TV+ on Prime Video, and we’re pleased to now launch this offering in India,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s SVP of Services.

Add-on subscriptions on Prime Video were introduced in 2016, providing users with unified login, billing, and content discovery. Subscribers can browse, search, and receive personalised recommendations across multiple premium services without switching apps. Prime users will be able to subscribe to Apple TV+ with no extra apps to download beyond Prime Video. The subscription can be cancelled at any time.
